Tyus Battle’s decision to return to school significantly altered Syracuse’s ceiling for the 18-19 college basketball season.
The Orange return five starters from last year’s team that reached the Sweet 16, but there’s another player — East Carolina transfer Elijah Hughes — that has Jim Boeheim particularly excited.
“He’s as talented an offensive player as we’ve had in a long time,” Boeheim said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast in reference to Hughes, a 6-6 wing who averaged 7.8 points two years ago at East Carolina. “We’re going to be a significantly better offensive team next season.”
The Orange are currently ranked 16th in the FRS Sports Preseason Top 25.
